About
Darling Twigs is a small British apparel brand built around a simple idea:
Paying attention to animals and the natural world is one of life’s great pleasures — the small, personal moments in nature that ground us, comfort us, and remind us we belong to something gentle and timeless.
There’s a particular feeling when you spot a kingfisher, or lock eyes with a deer, or watch a hare run for the sheer joy of running. It’s there when you notice the first daffodil burst in spring, or step outside to a frosty morning that’s so still you can hear the world breathing.
It stops you. Just for a second, the noise drops and something simpler takes over. It’s not sentimental — it’s real, we know it instantly because we’re part of that world too.
Darling Twigs exists to bottle that feeling and put it somewhere you’ll carry it with you.
How it started
Darling Twigs is run by Helen, a one-person studio based in Southwest England. Every design and illustration is an original, created using traditional drawing and painting techniques and/or digital tools — no clip art, no stock vectors. Just careful observation and a fondness for British wildlife that goes back as far as memory.
The brand grew out of a frustration that nothing on the high street quite captured the gentler, quieter side of loving nature. Plenty of slogans. Plenty of bold prints. Not much for people who simply enjoy noticing things.
How we make things
Every Darling Twigs piece is printed to order, we don't hold stock. The garments themselves are high-quality cotton tees from established, audited suppliers — the same ones favoured by independent labels who care about how their clothes are made, with a focus on ethical and sustainable production methods in relation to the environment and human rights.
What we believe
A few things matter to us:
That British wildlife is worth celebrating quietly, in its own right — not as background scenery, but as the small, specific creatures we share our gardens, hedgerows and walks with.
That made-to-order is a slower, kinder way to make clothes than mass production — and worth a few extra days for.
That a t-shirt worth wearing is one that feels right on — softly, comfortably, like it's been part of your wardrobe longer than it has. Quality you can feel matters more than quality you can advertise.
That looking after people properly is the whole job, not a sideline. Every email gets a real reply from a real person, every problem gets sorted, and nobody leaves unhappy if we can help it.
That nothing is improved by being shouted about. We'd rather make something good and let it speak for itself.
Get in touch
Every contact we receive is read by an actual human. We'd love to hear from you — whether you have a question, a wildlife observation, or just want to say hello.
